Chantal Noto :
a Mediterranean painter
Chantal Noto feels the inside urge to paint. She almost does it by necessity as we use the language to communicate. Her paintings summarize her own history as well as all she has seen. Her artwork is « Mediterranean », precisely because her life is symbolized by all the most important Mediterranean characteristics: her roots in Sicilia, her childhood in Morocco, her travels to Tunisia, Italy, Spain, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and her numerous trips to Greece, especially the Cyclades.
Chantal became the interpreter of this Mediterranean culture where warm colors are the reminiscence of the radiant landscapes and fascinating fantasy.
Her journey as a painter has been initiated by absolute colors with a predominance of white and blue. This blue is omnipresent: evocation of the sea, in which Chantal loves to get lost. To this blue, the colors of sand (and even sand itself) came across as if she wanted to unify the earth and the sea.
Adding red, brown and orange to her pallet, she opens up new possibilities for the expression of her artistic sensitivity. Her series of acrylic paintings whith warm and generous colours show clear inspiration from her love of Greece. She takes us to a secret world of sunshine, where we can share some of her hidden treasures: moments of luminous emotions in the journey of life!
